Smart Lighting Schedules
With Growcast, users can align the intensity and PPFD output with their plants’ natural growth phases and photosynthetic behaviours.
Growcast’s on/off scheduling allows growers to create reliable, consistent lighting cycles that supports existing feed and nutrient schedules. It ensures that the lighting cycles align with the plants’ circadian rhythm and provides accurate control over photoperiodism.
Unlike traditional mechanical timers, Growcast retains schedules even during power outages. This feature prevents environmental disruptions that interfere with flowering cycles, delay growth, or trigger plant stress.
The Sunrise and Sunset feature gradually dims grow lights from standby. This feature mimics the progression of sunlight, which encourages natural growth behaviours and minimises plant stress. In turn, the Sunrise and Sunset feature creates stronger plants with increased yields. Additionally, this feature protects grow room equipment from surges caused by switching on large AC loads. By gradually adjusting light levels, Growcast helps stabilise temperature and humidity fluctuations, reducing condensation and mildew formation.
Streamlined Setup
Growcast is universally compatible with any 0–10V dimmable grow light.
Setup is quick and effortless. Simply connect a Growcast to the dimming port on a light fixture. It powers on automatically, drawing energy directly from the light, and eliminating the need for additional power cables.
Once powered on, tap “Add Device” in the Telos app. The automatic setup tool will connect and install Growcast with a single button press. Then, select your light type from the library or add your own. You can also configure the number of daisy-chained fixtures per controller, enabling accurate PPFD mapping for up to 24 fixtures.
For large-scale operations with over 24 lights, the system easily expands. Simply add another Growcast to a light and link another 24 fixtures together. The two light groups can then be moved into a ‘room’ on the app. This allows for the seamless control of multiple groups of lights without the need for Wi-Fi or external gateways.
The Science of Growcast
Growcast empowers growers to create the perfect environment for producing robust crops and high yields by providing precise control over light intensity and spectral quality.
It maps photometric data from the grow space and calculates the average PPFD value across the entire canopy. Using this data, Growcast dynamically adjusts light output throughout different growth phases to optimise plant development.
Additionally, Growcast aligns PPFD levels and power consumption with each growth phase, ensuring output remains below the saturation point for photosynthesis. By continuously monitoring power efficiency, growers can maximise plant health while reducing energy usage and minimising stress.
The Telos app includes pre-programmed photosynthetic output data for all Telos fixtures. Once connected, users specify their light model and number of lights connected to Growcast. The app will then calculate the total PPFD output of the entire grow room.
